Central Alabama Non-Contact Rugby Sevens = 2-hand touch

(Ages 6 – 15) – ages of each team to be determined based on what we have

Registration for ages 7 – 15 (2-hand touch): Date of Birth between 9/1/08 and 9/1/16 for the year ending 8/31/24. Yes, you can be older than 11 or 12 to play in this division now! See the steps at the top of this page to register.

Cost: The amount of the CAYR team DUES for the 2024 summer season MIGHT be zero dollars. Yes, we are losing money on this again this year but we do accept donations (venmo = @bham-rugby and paypal = bhamrugby@gmail.com. Or you can write a check to “Birmingham Rugby.” USA Rugby dues will only be $10 for players in the “rookie” category, which is non-contact.

Note: 11 year olds have the option to move up to contact rugby with parents’ permission

Style = CoEd Two Hand Touch Rugby

In Birmingham Practices/Scrimmages for this age will be Thursday nights from 6:00 – 7:30 at Krebs Field at Ramsay Park (3601 Montclair Road in Birmingham). Starting date is May 23, 2024 with the last practice tentatively Aug 1, 2024. Check this website’s calendar for cancellations or date changes.

In Trussville, please attend the intro and clinic May 19, 2024 at the Trussville Football Field, 6450 Husky Parkway, Trussville, AL 35173. Call Zach Blalock at 205-427-0854.

In the Leeco (Lee County) area, practice dates and times are TBD. Check with David Bess or possibly TeamSnap.

Tournaments for the 2024 U13 Non-contact Rugby Team:

  • June 15, 2024 = at Leeco Lions (Auburn, Alabama)
  • June 29, 2024 = 41st Annual Vulcan 7s in Birmingham, Alabama
  • July 13, 2024 = Luau 7s in Mobile, Alabama
  • TBD = additional possibilities include Baton Rouge and Memphis

– Krebs Field (at Ramsay Park) is located at 3601 Montclair Road, Birmingham, Alabama
– Matches are handled by coaches and referees certified by USA Rugby.
– Players of certain ages are allowed to “play up” an age group with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, but no player is allowed to “play down.”
