Why the Youth Sport Your Kids Should be Playing is Rugby


Important News 3/20/2020:

– Registration is still open for the Summer, 2020 Youth Season. If the season is canceled due to COVID-19 before the season even starts, you will be issued a full refund.



Central Alabama High School Rugby Sevens = U19

(Ages 14 or 15-18)

Registration for age 14 or 15-18 High School tackle: Date of Birth between 9/2/00 and 9/1/04 (14 year olds can play up) for the year ending 8/31/20

Follow the instructions below:

1. Read all of these steps before you click any links because there are two places to sign up and two places to make separate payments.
3. In the menu, select Membership, then select Register.
4. Click the appropriate link as to whether or not you are a current or former member of USA Rugby, not a member but want to join, or a current member requesting a login account.
5. Make sure you register for “Central Alabama High School Rugby Sevens.”
6. Continue with the rest of the questions, online signatures, and online payment (This is not the same as your CAYR dues). When you’re asked to chose a role, choose “Player Member” unless you are a ref, coach, or admin.
7. Click the button below to sign up and pay dues for this season.

Style = Boys Only Tackle Rugby (if enough girls are interested we will add a girls division as well). 7s. That means 7 on 7 rather than 15 on 15.

Practices for this age will be Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Krebs Field at Ramsay Park (3601 Montclair Road in Birmingham). The starting date is June TBD, 2020 and the ending date is tentatively as late as July TBD, 2020. Check this website’s calendar for cancellations or date changes.

Tournaments for the 2020 U19 Tackle Rugby Team:

June 27, 2020 = Vulcan 7s in Birmingham, Alabama

August TBD, 2020 = likely Elvis 7s in Memphis, TN.

Stay tuned for details on these and possible additional tournaments. This website will be updated.


Cost: $150 – This includes a full kit (warm-up jersey, shorts, and socks) and entry into all tournaments. It also means you will get all of the benefits (such as supplemental insurance) of being a registered member of USA Rugby. -Krebs Field (at Ramsay Park) is located at 3601 Montclair Road, Birmingham, Alabama
-Matches are handled by coaches and referees certified by USA Rugby.
-Players of certain ages are allowed to “play up” an age group with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, but no player is allowed to “play down.”
